The Ottoman Bey of Uzakarazi was the representative of the authority of the Ottoman Sultan in Uzakarazi. Despite of the fact that all Beys were members of the House Alpsunguroğlu, the Sultan nominally approved each Bey. The Bey was assisted by the Divan-ı Beylik, which was lead by the chief vizier, Sadr-ı Uzakarazi or Sadr-ı Beylik. Most citizens considered the Beys as Kings, as mentioned in several chronicles. The Bey officially payed annual homage to the Sultan. Later, he sent his Vekil to pay homage. Despite, several attempts by Ottoman court officials, the Beys remained in control of the Island till 1860, when the Britishers took control.
